Fulmer was done wrong and everyone knows it, if Bowden was done the way Fulmer was I would have a hard time rooting for the 'Noles in the future.

I'm not one of these guys who wants someone fired every time my team loses a game, maybe it comes from actually doing some coaching. </div></div>

Blah, I know you stuck with FSU through some hard years and thats to be respected but when was the last time they missed a bowl? Tennessee has missed a bowl game 2 years outta four!!!!! I don't think Phil was done bad, it was just time for a change. Everyone knows I'm a vols fan but I'll admit I really didn't want to be because I was sick of what was going on in Neyland this season! Like I said before I will always respect Phil but most Vol fans know it was time for a change...

My only question is, why didnt they just hire Sarkisian? He was the QB developer and actual playcaller at SC. Not being cynical but I always wondered why Kiffin got so much credit when Sarkisian was always known as the real OC. I think Sarkisian sucks for what its worth and Uncle Normie runs circles around both of them but I just wonder why Sarkisian never was the "hot" commodity. FWIW, I probably watch more USC football than anyone on the east coast.

Re: I think this was a decent hire for Tennessee

I guess we will see. He has a lot of unknowns about him which is kinda exciting really. There wasn't all that much to choose from either really. Take Mike Leach for example, this guy is a whack job and very weird to say the least, I just don't think I would enjoy him on the sidelines in Neyland Stadium.

It will be interesting to see how his recruiting stacks up over the next couple of seasons to the rest of the SEC and see if he is as good as people say he is in that department. I know a lot of press conferences are filled with a bunch of high hopes that are normally never completed, but, this one was a tad different, he didn't give any expectations, he just said he going to roll up his sleeves and outwork the competition. Kinda got me fired up, the open competetion thing is great and will only bring out the best in everyone.

As far as the Sarkisian vs Kiffin question. Who knows, Why has Kiffin been hired for a NFL job and now a Top Tier Division 1 program while Sarkisian is still Pete Carroll's water boy. He must be doing something right.

Does really all of this even matter when you have Layla on your side, bring any recruit, any recruit into your home and let her be sunbathing out by the pool and they will commit right on the spot without even having to pitch the program

Re: I think this was a decent hire for Tennessee

Yeah Im really not sure, thats why I was asking. But I wouldnt say the Raiders is a top tier job. Good money(well you only get half of it) but given that Tom Cable, Bill Callahan, Mike White, Joe Bugel, Norv Turner, and Art Shell twice have coached the Raiders over the last 10-15 years, I wouldnt say Kiffin did anything special to get the job. If you remember, Davis took forever to find his coach and sorta settled for Kiffin. Not saying hes a bad coach at all, just saying he has done less than Sarkisian so you wonder. Maybe hes better head coaching material whereas Sarkisian is a better OC. Some OC's are great X and O guys that arent meant to be HC's like Norv. Who knows. I just posed the question really.

Re: I think this was a decent hire for Tennessee

i cant see his dad leaving tampa bay, its almost stupidity, they wont pay him 2m a year like he gets at tampa, and its always a conflict of interest, esp when the son is theoretically the boss.

hey hes young, and he can recruit

he was never the real x's and o's guy in USC, it was chow first then sarkasian

he may do well if he gets good coaches around him

i heard today that orgeron is def not coming

    any OC possibilites?

All good points, I see where you are coming from. And no the Raiders Job is not Top Tier, hope you didn't think that was what I was saying, in fact, who the hell would want that job and have to put up with Al Davis anyway. I am a Raider fan but jeez, I couldn't work under that man.

His Dad always said he wanted to work with his son before he retired so he better take the shot while he can, Monte isn't a spring chicken by any means. He won't get the 2 mil a year like at Tampa but I don't think he would be asking for that, he just wants to coach with his son before he bits the big one.

Re: I think this was a decent hire for Tennessee

Monte's a done deal. Orgeron is as well unless he gets the DC job at LSU. That is one reason that Kiffin has over 1 million dollars more to spend on a staff than Fulmer had this year.
